This notice explains how Your Business Name (“we”), the data fiduciary for ClaimYour#1, collects and uses personal data. It is written to meet the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules under them.
1. What we collect
- Listing details you submit or confirm: startup name, one-liner, description, category, city, website, Instagram handle, founder name, LinkedIn link and logo. Some of these are read from your startup's public website to save you typing. These are public on the leaderboard and your startup page.
- Contact details: the email address and mobile number you enter at Razorpay checkout. These are private.
- Payment records: Razorpay order and payment IDs, the amount, and the time of payment. Razorpay processes the payment itself; we never receive your card number, CVV, UPI PIN or bank login.
- A random visitor ID stored in your browser's local storage, used only to count visitors and visits and to show how many people are online. It isn't linked to your name, email or phone.
- Click counts on each listing, recorded without who clicked.
- Technical logs kept by our hosting providers, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and troubleshooting.
2. Why we use it
- To publish and rank your listing and show it to visitors: on the basis of your consent, given when you submit and pay.
- To process payments, send receipts, issue refunds and keep accounting and tax records: to perform the service you asked for and to comply with law.
- To reach you about your listing, a payment or a complaint.
- To keep the site secure, prevent fraud and count visitors.
We don't sell personal data, and we don't use it for advertising or profiling.
3. Browser storage and cookies
We don't use advertising or analytics cookies. The site stores a few small items in your browser: your light or dark theme choice, the random visitor ID, when you were last active, and a marker for the current tab. The last two make sure a refresh isn't counted as a new visit. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings. Razorpay's checkout may set its own cookies when you pay; see Razorpay's privacy policy.
4. Who we share it with
- Razorpay, to process payments.
- Supabase, which hosts our database and logo storage. We choose servers in India (Mumbai) where available.
- Our website host, which serves the site and keeps technical logs.
- Google's favicon service, which may load a startup's website icon when no logo was uploaded. Your browser connects to Google for this.
- Government or law enforcement, when Indian law requires it.
Some of these providers may process data outside India, as permitted by the DPDP Act. We require them to protect it.
5. How long we keep it
Listing and contact details stay while your listing is live and are deleted within 30 days of a valid erasure request, unless we must keep them longer. Payment records are kept for as long as Indian tax and accounting laws require, currently up to 8 years. Technical logs are kept for a short period by our providers.
6. How we protect it
Data is encrypted in transit. Contact details and payment records are stored in tables that the public website can't read; only our server can access them. Payments are verified with Razorpay's signatures before anything is recorded. If a breach affects your data, we'll inform you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
7. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you can:
- ask what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
- ask us to correct, complete, update or erase it;
- withdraw your consent at any time (we'll then remove your listing; payments already made aren't refunded except under our refund policy);
- nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to;
- complain to our grievance officer, and then to the Data Protection Board of India if you're not satisfied.
Email your request from the address you used at checkout. We respond within 30 days.
8. Children
The site is meant for founders and adults. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
